What types of apprenticeships do you offer? We offer apprenticeships in business administration, caretaking, and in a range of construction trades – electrical, joinery, heating, plumbing, bricklaying and plastering.
When do your apprenticeships start?
We advertise apprenticeships in March, and successful applicants start work with us in September.
What qualifications do you need?
Please click here for information on the level of functional skills required for our apprenticeship programme.
For functional skills advice or available courses, you can contact your nearest college or training provider
Alternatively, if you are a Nottingham City Homes tenant, you can contact our Employability Manager or our Tenant Academy.
How old do you have to be?
You have to have completed school at GCSE level – there’s no upper age limit.
What’s the criteria?
We follow Nottingham City Council’s pledge of Nottingham jobs for Nottingham people, with our own emphasis on creating work and training opportunities for Nottingham City Homes tenants. Applicants must live in Nottingham city – that is, pay their council tax to (or get council tax benefit from) Nottingham City Council. If you do not live in Nottingham city but are registered disabled, you can still apply.
What does being an apprentice involve?
You’ll work a 37-hour week, shadowing employees and learning on the job. You’ll also go to college, usually for one day a week, to get a qualification at either NVQ level 2 or 3 in your chosen area. We pay for your study.
Will I get paid?
Yes. Rates of pay depend on your age and the type of apprenticeship you take. You would be paid monthly. Your college attendance counts as part of your working week and you would be paid for your college day too.
How do I apply?
Keep an eye on our vacancy pages, particularly around the end of March. You must apply online – we don’t accept CVs.
