Common questions
The information below explains some of the most often asked questions about anti-social behaviour.
How can I report anti-social behaviour, hate crime or domestic abuse?
Report any of the above to your local housing, or call us on 0845 330 31 31. You can also contact the anti-social behaviour helpline on 0115 915 2020.
Do I have to give my name?
You can make a report anonymously. However, this may hinder our investigation and we will not be able to give you updates on developments.
Will my name be passed to the person that I make complaint about?
We will not give your details out to anyone unless you say we can (authorisation). However in some cases the nature of the complaint may allow the perpetrator (person thought to have caused the behaviour) to identify who has made the complaint.
We will only contact the person that you are reporting if you authorise us to.
What is an action plan?
It is an agreement between the you and the Housing Patch Manager that details what will happen and by when. The action plan is written and signed by both parties and is reviewed on a regular basis.
Why have I been asked to keep observation sheets?
We ask you to keep a record of the incidents that you witness by completing observation sheets. This allows us to get a better understanding of the problems that you are experiencing.
These sheets also help identify if any other agencies can help to resolve the issue. They may also be used as form of evidence. but only with your permission.
We often ask you to keep information on:
- the date of incident(s)
- the time the incident(s) started and finished
- what impact the event had on you - how did it make you feel?
This is normally requested for an initial two week basis but may be used longer to help with evidence collecting.
If we ask you to keep a record of the incidents we will give you more details and guidance to help you.
What is the Nottingham Mediation Service?
This is an independent and impartial service that allows people the ability to raise their complaints and concerns and reach an agreement between all involved with a trained mediator.
The mediator will visit all parties involved and collect information on the issues raised without taking sides. This will then be used to help towards a final agreement between all the parties in dispute.
What other agencies may be involved and how can they help?
We work with a variety of other agencies including Nottingham City Council, Nottinghamshire Police and Community Protection. We will always discuss involving other agencies with you before we involve them.
How and when will I be updated of progress on my case?
We will contact you a least once a month to provide you with updates and discuss the case developments with you.
