Giving evidence in court

For us to take action against someome causing anti-social behaviour, we have to show evidece in court.

Many people who reach this stage of an anti-social behaviour case are afraid to go to court because they feel that they could be victimised even further.

We recognise that providing evidence at court can be very worrying. We will do as much as we can to support you through this together with the community protection team. We will:

  • provide additional security at your home if possible
  • give you with a single contact point
  • keep in regular contact with you to advise of progress
  • arrange a pre-hearing visit to court if necessary so that you can see where the hearing will take place and we can answer any questions
  • sort 'special measures' to give your evidence if necessary
  • escort you to and from court and stay with you at court if you ask for this
  • stay in regular contact after the hearing to provide support
