Get set for gardeing this summer
It’s time for our tenants and leaseholders to make their front lawns fancy, hanging baskets beautiful and their pots perfect –it’s the Best Garden Competition 2009.
The competition is open to current Nottingham City Homes tenants, leaseholders and those former tenants who have purch
ased their home. Last year’s entrants will be sent a copy of the application pack. But those taking part for the first time can get hold of a pack at their local housing office, or by calling 0115 915 7030.
The closing date for applications is Friday 26 June and judging will take place in mid to late July. This year’s categories include:
- House/bungalow - divided into 36 area/estate categories
- Balcony/container/window box display – for residents of flats and maisonettes without their own garden
- Sheltered housing complex – for sheltered housing communal gardens
- Community garden – for groups working on a garden together
- Vegetable garden – for the keen vegetable grower
- Young person’s garden – young gardeners, 25yrs old and under
- Disabled gardener of the year – for the best garden designed by a gardener with a disability.
This competition has been running for more than 75 years and is well respected amongst tenants and leaseholders. Its success is down to the genuine pride that tenants take in making their gardens look beautiful.
