Good neighbour award up for grabs

Is there someone on your street who does a lot for your community?

Do you have a neighbour who helps out whenever you need it? If there is someone in your neighbourhood who stands out and deserves to be recognised, why not nominate them for this year’s Good Neighbour award?

Entries are now open for the annual event that recognises the people who go that extra mile for their neighbours or community as a whole.

Albert Potter, 87, of Riseborough Walk, Bulwell, won the award last year. He was nominated by staff at Bulwell Housing Office for his ongoing commitment to helping his community, in particular his neighbour, Vera Noy. Albert and Vera have been neighbours for more than 40 years. For every one of those 40 years he has maintained her garden all year round, as well as keeping the surrounding area tidy and litter free.

The winner of this year’s award will be invited, along with the person who nominated them, to a special presentation ceremony. This will take place at the Council House when the Best Garden Competition Awards are presented.

If you have a neighbour, like Albert, and you would like to nominate them for this year’s award, get hold of a nomination form from your local housing office or by calling 0115 915 7030.

You could also send us an email to marketing@nottinghamcityhomes.org.uk giving us the name, address and contact details of the person you want to nominate.

You need to tell us why you think they should be given this award and also let us know your name, address and contact details. Entries must be in by Friday 28th August 2009.
