Nottingham is leading performer in tackling anti-social behaviour (cpt release)
A multi-agency approach to tackling anti-social behaviour in Nottingham is proving to be a huge success, according to the latest Home Office figures.
The launch of a new anti-social behaviour (ASB) action website, www.direct.gov.uk/antisocialbehaviour, containing the latest anti-social behaviour data has highlighted Nottingham as one of the top performing areas in the country.
The city’s effective and appropriate use of civil enforcement tools including acceptable behaviour contracts, injunctions and evictions is successfully working to prevent, control and remove anti-social behaviour from Nottingham’s communities.
Richard Antcliff, Chief ASB Officer, Community Protection Directorate, said:
In Nottingham city, partnership working with other agencies and local residents to prevent and tackle anti-social behaviour has become part of our day to day work ethic. I believe that it’s because of this and our zero tolerance approach to anti-social behaviour, that we are achieving such great results.
Nottingham City Council’s Community Protection Directorate is ranked in the top quarter percentile across the country in all anti-social behaviour measures. This includes issuing the second highest number of acceptable behaviour contracts and anti-social behaviour injunctions.
In addition, due to effective partnership working with Nottingham City Homes and local residents, more persistent anti-social offenders have been evicted from their homes in the city than in any other area.
Councillor Jon Collins of Nottingham City Council said:
These figures show Nottingham is one of the leaders nationally in protecting our residents from anti-social behaviour. We have used all the tools and powers available to us and will continue to work with the police to address the concerns of local communities. The council and police are committed to making even greater use of these powers in the future, not because we have high levels of ASB, but because the City Council is committed to improving the quality of life in the City and tackling crime, ASB and enviro-crime whenever and wherever it occurs.
