Have your say on crime 2009 (ncdp release)
The Nottingham Crime & Drugs Partnership (CDP) is looking for residents views on crime in the City, as the latest ‘Have Your Say on Crime’ poll is launched.
The online questionnaire is part of the ongoing commitment which the CDP has towards making the City a safer place by reducing crime and anti-social behaviour through focussed partnership working. This has resulted in a 28.42% reduction in crime and over 3,000 people engaged in drug treatment (2003/04 to 2008/09).
We want to build on this success and make Nottingham even safer.
The Partnership has set ambitious targets for completion by 2011, including:
- To reduce crime by 25%;
- To reduce serious acquisitive crime (burglary, car crime and robbery) by 37%,
- To increase the number of drug users in effective treatment by 12% by 2011.
As part of this process of improvement the CDP looks at levels and patterns of crime and drug use within the city on an annual basis. This analysis of crime and drug use helps identify the main priorities for the CDP and where to allocate resources.
The CDP asked the communities of Nottingham last year what they were most concerned about, through a questionnaire, and again in March this year at a public event held at the Council House. The results informed the priorities for the partnership and were reflected in the CDP’s strategy to tackle crime and drugs.
James Rhodes, Strategy Manager at the CDP, who is coordinating the survey, said:
The CDP is committed to review and develop all its activities and it is vitally important that local people are part of that process. We would like to hear about the issues that effect local communities from as many people as possible.
People can complete the questionnaire, either on-line or by requesting a paper copy from the CDP.
