Working together for a better Bulwell
A brand new police information pillar will be unveiled in Bulwell this week to show how the city’s key organisations are working together for a better Bulwell.
The pillar, which is the size of a telephone box will be based in Bulwell Market Square. It will feature information for local people on community matters and neighbourhood policing.
It is being launched on Thursday with a life-size poster promoting the work of teams from Nottinghamshire Police, Nottingham City Council and Nottingham City Homes.
Officers from the three organisations work together in local areas like Bulwell to keep the streets clean, create safer estates and deal with local issues on a local level.
Insp Andy Rooke, Deputy Director, Community Protection, said:
Our Community Protection officers work within local beat teams and alongside our partners to deliver a service that the community have told us they want. Whether it is littered streets, housing issues or anti-social behaviour, this joined up way of working ensures the right person is dealing with the right issue.
Local councillors, Cllr Ginny Klein and Cllr John Hartshorne and local Community Crime fighter, Ros Yousouf, will unveil the new pillar at 12noon. They will also be joined by Inspector Chris Davies and Area Manager for Bulwell and Bulwell Forest, Katrina Curnow.
Councillor Alan Clark, Chair of the local area committee for Bulwell, said:
Many people don’t realise that behind the scenes these teams are working together to maintain and improve the local area for local people.
“The information pillar in Bulwell is the first of its kind in Nottingham and we hope it will help the community to understand more about the work being done in their area. It also gives people a contact number for the anti-social-behaviour helpline. This is a confidential service that should give local residents the confidence to stand up to this crime, while remaining anonymous.
Allan Breeton, Neighbourhood Crime and Justice Co-ordinator, added:
Justice Seen Justice is about giving the public the information they want about crime and policing issues that matter to them in in their area. It’s about demonstrating that we are tackling the issues that matter to you and being clear that criminals face consequences for their actions.
It is hoped the next police information pillar will be launched in Hyson Green.
Gill Moy, Director of Housing Services at Nottingham City Homes, said:
It is only by working together that we can really make a big difference to local communities. We are all committed to creating a better Bulwell and with the support of local residents, I know we can achieve that.
