Watch out for St Anns bogus caller
Nottingham City Homes is warning residents of St Anns to be on their guard after a bogus caller gained entry to an elderly tenant’s home on Wednesday 18th November 2009.
The caller approached the property posing as a Decent Homes contractor, working behalf of Nottingham City Homes (NCH). He was carrying a form of ID with him, and told the tenant he was coming to talk about fitting new windows.
During the visit he looked at the downstairs of the property and sat with the tenant asking a number of questions. He was in the property for a total of 45 minutes. After the visit, the tenant had concerns about the caller, so she contacted Nottingham City Homes who identified it was a rogue caller.
Please follow the following advice when a caller comes to your property:
Do not to let a caller in unless you have seen their identity card and it shows they work for either Nottingham City Homes or one of the following contractors:
• Nationwide Windows
• Wates Living Space
• Frank Haslam Milan (FHM)
• SPI
• CTS
• Savills
If you are still not convinced, please call us on 0300 333 8100 to check that the contractor is legitimate and they are meant to be there. Do not use a phone number they give you. If the caller is working with us, they will be happy to wait outside while you phone us. Nottingham City Homes and their Contractors also offer a password service to their tenants, which can be requested via the contractors tenant liaison officer at induction stage.
If you are still concerned, don’t let them in and ask them to leave.
We are working regularly on our estates carrying out improvement works to thousands of properties. It is more important than ever that our tenants are vigilant and check that the people visiting their home are legitimately working for us.
