Young people get helping hand with homes
Young people can get help and advice on finding their first home at a special drop-in session being held at Nottingham City Homes this month.
The Getting and running your first home session will take place on Tuesday 2 March from 2pm to 7pm at the Housing Services Centre, 14 Hounds Gate, Nottingham (between Subway and the Snug nightclub).
For young people aged 16 to 25 years old, this is a chance to learn more about getting your first place, and running it.
There will be advice and guidance on:
- How to bid for a new home through Homelink, our choice-based lettings system
- What financial support is available to you and how to apply for it
- What extra services are available, such as floating support for people with specific needs
- Information on how to protect your belongings with home contents insurance
- And a chance to chat to officers from Job Centre Plus about getting a job.
If you are just thinking about getting your own place, or need help with your application, it is worth coming along. There will be a free goodie bag and refreshments for all those attending.
