Get set for gardening this summer

It’s time for our tenants and leaseholders to make their front lawns fancy, hanging baskets beautiful and their pots perfect –it’s the Best Garden Competition 2010.

The competition is open to current Nottingham City Homes’ tenants, leaseholders, former tenants who have purchased their home and people who have purchased a former council home. Application forms can be requested by calling 0115 915 7030 or downloaded from our website.

The closing date for applications is Friday 25th June and judging will take place in mid to late July. The categories are:

  • House/bungalow – divided into 36 area/estate categories
  • Balcony/container/window box display – for residents of flats and maisonettes without their own garden
  • Sheltered housing complex – for sheltered housing communal gardens
  • Community garden – for groups working on a garden together
  • Vegetable garden – for the keen vegetable grower
  • Young person’s garden – for young gardeners, 25yrs old and under
  • Disabled gardener of the year – for the best garden designed by a gardener with a disability.

This competition has been running for more than 75 years and is well respected amongst tenants and leaseholders. Its success is down to the genuine pride that tenants take in making their gardens look beautiful.
