Sheltered housing in Medfest celebrations
As part of the Medfest celebrations next week in the Meadows, Kirkwhite Court Sheltered Scheme is holding a 'celebration of culture' event on 28th July, from 10am to 1pm.
There will be lots to do - including stalls, entertainment, a quiz, a free raffle and food.
We are also going to have a storyboard - where current tenants from minority communities living in sheltered housing can give their experiences of moving to England, and what they like about living in sheltered housing.
Lis Robinson, Sheltered Housing Patch Manager said:
We want to make this event a real success and reach out to older people in the community. People with an ethnic minority background are currently under represented in sheltered housing and we want to encourage older people to apply. Maybe this is the move you have been looking for?
The event has been put together by the scheme managers in the area, and partners from the One Stop Shop in the Bridgeway Centre. Our aim is to reach out to the diverse cultures in the Meadows area, celebrate the different cultures in sheltered housing and tell people more about what sheltered housing and Telecare have to offer.
