ASBO forbids woman from soliciting in the midlands (NCC and Notts police release)
A woman has been issued with an ASBO banning her from loitering for prostitution in the midlands, for the next two years.
Emma Midgley, 33, of no fixed address has been served with the ASBO for two years, ending on 24 August 2012.
On 19 July 2010, Nottingham Magistrate's Court heard that Midgley had been caught loitering for prostitution on Mapperley Road, Nottingham on 6 July 2010 by Community Protection’s Prostitution Taskforce.
The order forbids Midgley from:
1. Entering the Nottingham Vice Area between 5:30pm and 5:30am daily
2. Loitering or soliciting for the purposes of prostitution anywhere within Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire
If Midgley breaches the terms of her order she risks arrest and being put back before the courts, which may result in a prison sentence.
Richard Antcliff, Neighbourhood Enforcement Officer for Community Protection said:
Midgley has been offered support from several organisations, but has chosen not to receive any help. In this instance, we had no choice but to apply to the courts for an ASBO stopping Ms Midgley from continuing this behaviour, which negatively affects local residents and their families. We will continue to use our tools and powers as effectively as possible to protect our local communities.
