5 year ASBO bans woman from soliciting in Nottingham City (NCC and Notts police release)

A 27 year old woman has been served a five year ASBO banning her from soliciting in the City of Nottingham.

Angela Hopkins, of Bulwell, Nottingham, will no longer be allowed to loiter or solicit for prostitution anywhere in Nottingham.

On 30 July 2010 the Nottinghamshire Magistrates Court heard that Hopkins had been repeatedly caught loitering for the purposes of prostitution in the Nottingham City Vice area since 2001. And that there had been 29 reports alone within the seven months leading up to the court hearing.

Sergeant Neil Radford of the Community Protection On-Street Prostitution Team said:

I've known Ms Hopkins since the team was formed in 2004. Throughout this time Angela has been offered many opportunities for support by other agencies and drug workers. And for periods of time she has accepted help, however she has repeatedly relapsed and returned to prostitution.

In this situation, we had no choice but to apply for an ASBO. The intention is to deter Ms Hopkins from going back onto the streets, to prevent our communities from having to put up with sexual acts happening in their gardens and public spaces, and to protect local residents from the attention of kerb crawlers.

Until 20 August 2015, Angela Hopkins is prohibited from:

1. Being, entering or remaining within the Nottingham City Vice Area except when travelling through the area on public transport
2. From loitering or soliciting for the purpose of prostitution anywhere within the City of Nottingham

If you see Angela Hopkins breaching the conditions of her ASBO report it to the anti-social behaviour helpline on 0115 9152020.
