Prison time for Sneinton man who abused housing staff (NCC and NCH release)

A Sneinton man has been given a 90 day prison sentence after pleading guilty to threatening and intimidating staff at an NCH Housing Office.

Scott Finch, 26 of Bentinck Court in Sneinton entered St Ann's housing office on 26th November 2010 and subjected counter staff to verbal abuse. He then attempted to hit a member of staff in the face, and punched a computer monitor and glass screen.

Finch then made threats to shoot a member of staff.

Finch was summonsed to Nottingham Magistrates Court on the 5th January 2011 and pleaded guilty to a section four public order offence. Finch appeared in court again on the 10th January for sentencing and received 90 days in prison.

Community Protection is seeking to evict Finch from his property on Bentinck Court. His hearing will take place on Thursday 3rd February.

Richard Antcliff, Head of Neighbourhood Enforcement for Community Protection said:

This result clearly demonstrates how organisations working efficiently together can achieve excellent results. With the Nottinghamshire Police Beat Manager, the Community Protection ASB Officer and the NCH housing staff working together, this man has been dealt the justice he deserves. We are pleased that the courts have taken the matter so seriously.

Kim De Vergori, Assistant Director of Housing Services, said:

We are pleased to see this conviction. Our staff should not feel threatened by our customers and should never be afraid about coming to work. We believe his sentence is just and hope the courts will support the case to evict Finch next month.
