The future of sheltered housing in Nottingham

In January, the government announced cuts to the 'Supporting People' fund.

Supporting People pays for services for elderly and vulnerable people and we get money from Nottingham City Council (which decides how to spend the budget) to help fund your sheltered housing service.

This service, along with others, will be affected by the significant cuts. We don't expect this to be an easy time, but it is important not to panic. We are, however, committed to providing as effective a service as we possibly can.

The city council manages the Supporting People fund for all of Nottingham. It decides how services should be financed, based on an individual's specific needs and what they require, to help them lead as independent a life as possible.

We're guaranteed enough money to maintain the existing service until September. In the meantime, the council is developing proposals to get the best from the reduced budget for the whole of the city.

We will work closely with the city council to do whatever we can to get the best service for you from a difficult situation.

We will keep all our sheltered housing tenants informed with developments over the next few months, and consult with you over any changes. If you have any questions, please talk to your scheme manager.
