Estate assessment results - March 2011

How much has your estate improved?

Our team of tenant services inspectors visit all 42 estates managed by Nottingham City Homes every three months-and grade them between zero and three stars.

They do it to check that each estate is a place where tenants want to live and to identify areas for improvement.

We then work with Nottingham City Council, the police and other organisations to make those improvements to your area.

Since we first asked our tenants to get involved in these inspections, back in 2007, we have seen huge improvements, with all estates rating now as two stars or higher.

This means, for example, that the streets are cleaner, there's less graffiti and rubbish, gardens are tidier and paths are clear of weeds.

Here are the results from across the city:

  • 25 (60%) of our estates are now of a three star standard compared to just four (11%) in June 2007
  • 17 (40.4%) of our estates are a two star standard
  • As of this year no estates are a one star standard compared to 13 (36%) in 2007
  • No estates are rated zero compared to 9 (25%) in 2007.

Estate inspections take place around every three months. They last around two hours and focus on issues such as the condition of gardens and fencing. It is also an opportunity to look out for vandalism, graffiti, empty properties, parking problems and anything else of concern.
