Calling all voluntary organisations! (NCC release)
Have your say on the council's budget proposals for 2012-13.
Nottingham City Council has set out its budget proposals for next year. The council's budget priorities include supporting jobs and the local economy and protecting services for vulnerable people where it can.
The scale of government cuts to the council's funding, increasing demand and the economic climate means difficult decisions will once again have to be made about some services the council provides.
The city council is now consulting on its draft budget until 9 February 2012. You can take a look at the detailed proposals on: www.mynottingham.gov.uk/budget2012
The city council would like to hear the views of the voluntary and community sector, and there are a number of ways for you to get involved:
- Attend one of Councillor Dave Liversidge's fortnightly surgeries. He is Portfolio Holder for Housing Strategy and Community Sector, and his surgeries provide a regular opportunity for voluntary and community sector organisations to raise awareness of their work and discuss issues. The surgeries are held at Loxley House, on Station Street, on alternate Friday mornings from 9.30am to 12:15pm. The next surgery date is 27 January. To book an appointment, please contact Phil Hearn at Nottingham City Council on 0115 8762183 or e-mail: phil.hearn@nottinghamcity.gov.uk.
- Attend one of two meeting organised by One Nottingham on 6 February. At NCVS on Mansfield Road at 2:30pm or at Loxley House on Station Street at 6:30pm. For more information please visit: www.onenottingham.org.uk
- E-mail your comments and views to: Voluntary.sector@nottinghamcity.gov.uk
- Write to: Tricia Gilby, Service Manager Voluntary Sector Sustainability, Communities Courtyard, Wollaton Road, Nottingham, NG8 2AD.
The city council will be capturing all the comments and questions from the voluntary and community sector, and this information will feed into a report by council officers summarising the consultation for a meeting of the Executive Board on 21st February. All the comments will be made available to the Executive Board. The Executive Board will consider the proposed budget before submitting a final budget for approval to Full Council on 5 March.
If you have any queries about the consultation process then please e-mail haveyoursay@nottinghamcity.gov.uk or call 0115 876 3040.
