Other ways to find a home

Apart from Nottingham HomeLink and our mutual exchange scheme, there are other ways fo finding somewhere to live.

If you can't find a council tenancy, there are other ways you can find a home.

Homeswapper

This is where you exchange (or swap) your home with another Nottingham City Homes tenant, a tenant of another council or a housing association tenant. Go to the Homeswapper website.

Read our leaflet about doing a mutual exchange.

Private renting

Lettings agents

Every high street has a number of estate agents, many of which have properties to rent.

Be aware that private renting is usually more expensive than renting a council property. However, you may be able to find something to suit you in an area you would rather live in or will suit your needs better. If you are a private tenant, you can still claim housing benefit but it is unlikely to cover all your rent.

Shop windows and supermarkets

You may be able to find homes to rent privately or a room share in a house by looking in these and other places.
