Doing more in your community can increase your confidence and develop your skills. You’ll also meet loads of new people and gain confidence! The Tenant Academy can help you find volunteering opportunities and can support you to start your own community group or give you advice about running events in your community.

Do you want to add to your CV – or are you after a job and you need a qualification? We offer NVQs, City & Guilds, and courses in English, Maths and IT – if there’s anything else you’re interested in, just ask. If you’re a Panel or Board member, we can also offer courses to develop your knowledge of housing (included Chartered Institute of Housing accredited courses).

Finding a job

If you’d love a change of job or career, or to get back into work, we can help. We offer courses in job search skills, CV writing, completing job applications and interview skills. Just ask when the next course is, and put your name down.

Thinking of an apprenticeship? We can help you find the apprenticeship that’s right for you, and we can help you apply. Just get in touch and tell us what you’re interested in.

Everything else

The Tenant Academy offers courses in everything from gardening to cooking, from managing your budget to face painting! We publish our new courses every three months – take a look at the latest courses on offer.

Sharon's story

As well as being Treasurer of her local Tenants’ and Residents’ Association, Sharon  is a volunteer ACE Inspector, carrying out reality checks and mystery shopping exercises to see if NCH is performing well.

Sharon wanted to improve her IT skills, so she came along to do a course at the Tenant Academy. Since then, she’s done other courses, and says, “It’s like being taught in a family environment. It’s different. It’s not like a college – it’s more like one big family. The courses are so much fun!”
