Secure Warm Modern
This is our programme to make sure every council home is a decent place to live.
Our Secure Warm Modern programme will make sure every council home in Nottingham is a decent place to live.
Between 2008 and 2013 we aim to spend up to £243 million improving Nottingham's council homes. The programme has been based on YOUR priorities and is divided into three main areas of work:
- Nottingham Secure - installing new windows in 15,300 properties
- Warmth for Nottingham - improving heating for 19,700 properties
- Modern Living - making internal improvements including new kitchens for 17,000 homes and new bathrooms in 12,700 homes
We'll also be improving your neighbourhood, communal areas, electrical wiring, external doors, roofs, walls and other internal alterations.
We have to bring every home up to the Government's Decent Homes standard by 2013. The Secure, Warm, Modern programme will make sure every home not only meets this standard but improves on it.
Our contractor partners
We currently have six contractor partners working together with us and our Property Services section. New partners will be invited to bid to do work for us as the programme progresses. Find out more in our section on 'Contractor partners'.

'One in a Million' scheme
We are working together with our partners to develop this unique scheme. For every million pounds of work we give to one of these companies, they recruit a trades or administration member of staff. More about '1 in a Million'.
