Nottingham Secure

This section of decent homes work is mainly concerned with your windows.

Will all my windows be replaced with double glazed units?

• All existing single glazed windows will be replaced with double glazed PVC-u frames. If you already have double glazing we will not replace it
• Existing front and back doors will be replaced if they are old and in poor condition, need a lot of maintenance or have low security. The new replacement doors will include a composite security door, door frame and ironmongery (locks etc)
• Entrance doors to individual flats will be replaced if they are beyond their serviceable life or do not meet current fire regulations. Replacement doors and frames will be in a similar style to the existing ones, meet current fire regulations and include security door handles
• All replacement doors and windows will be designed to meet 'secured by design' standards

Curtains and blinds

It is your responsibility as a tenant to remove and refit curtains and/or blinds at the windows in your home. If you are unable to do this yourself because you have a disability or are elderly, we will try to help you through the Helping Hands Scheme.

More security for you

We are also working with the Crime and Drugs Partnership to reduce crime and, as part of the Nottingham Secure scheme, every property will be issued with 'Smartwater'.
