Help and advice
If you are having difficulty paying your rent or service charges, try using the help advice on this page.
Personal help to manage your money
There are lots of different ways we can help you, depending on your personal situation.
Our Financial Inclusion Officers contact every tenant early in their tenancy to establish what help and support they may need.
We can help you with rents and benefits and service charges – but it’s usually a combination of issues that people need advice and help with. Leaseholders are also entitled to use this service.
How can a Financial Inclusion Officer help me?
We can make an affordable arrangement with you so you can pay your arrears off in instalments.
We can explain about legal notices of possession. We can advise you how to apply to court for variation on court orders or suspension of eviction hearings.
We can explain about Housing Benefit and other benefits.
We can tell you how to work out your budget and manage your money.
We can give basic advice on how to deal with all types of debt from utility bill arrears, credit cards, and catalogue and bank loans. We can explain what priority debts are. We can direct you to other organisations which can advise you further.
When can I see a Financial Inclusion Officer?
We can visit you at home – please call Nottingham City Homes on 0115 915 4920 to make an appointment.
Can I claim housing benefit?
Try using our benefits calculator. It will help you work out how much you may be able to claim (although this is only a guide - what you get may differ).
