Where to pay your rent
There are lots of easy ways to pay your rent depending on how you want to pay and your circumstances.
This section tells you more about where you can pay your council tax, housing rent and housing benefit overpayments.
Changes to cash collection at rent offices - your views
We recently wrote to all our tenants who pay their rent at housing offices or to their rent collector. We want to change the way we do this. The closing date for making you comments has changed from Friday 19th February to 5th March 2010. More information on the changes to rent collection.
Where to make rent payments
You can make these payments in any of the following ways.

Post office
Post offices accept payment in cash, by cheque (payable to Post Office Counters Ltd) or most major debit cards.
PayPoint
Payment must be in cash. Details of your local outlet can be found at the PayPoint website.
You can pay at either the post office or paypoint shop if there is a bar code printed on the front of your bill or rent card. Please take care of your documents because if the bar code become damaged it may become unreadable. You will get a separate receipt which you can attach to your bill or card. Please keep all receipts safe. There is no charge for paying at the post office or paypoint shop.

Over the telephone
You can pay over the automated freephone hotline on 0800 052 0173 at any time or on 0115 915 4920 between 8.15am to 5.50 pm Monday to Friday. You can pay by most sorts of credit and debit cards.
Your area housing office
We have nine housing offices where you can make payments.
By post
Please see the relevant bill, invoice, or payment documentation for details of how to make payments by post. You can send the payment to your local housing office. Do not send cash by post.
