Rubbish and recycling
There are lots of ways you can do your bit and recycle your garden waste.
Clearing rubbish and unwanted waste
As well as maintaining your garden as a tenant, you must also make sure that your garden or yard is free of rubbish at all times.
Nottingham City Council offers a wide ranging service for all tenants and residents which includes:
• Regular bin collections
• Collection of ‘white goods’ (for example cookers, fridges and freezers). Note that there is a charge for this service
• Special collection of bulky items
• Special collection of household, garden and clinical waste
• Recycling of household waste
• Skip hire
See below for contact details.
Making Nottingham greener
Home composting
We actively encourage our tenants to convert their food and garden waste into compost. Compost converters are available at reasonable cost - see details below .
Recycling
There are two recycling sites (at Calverton and on the Lenton Industrial Estate) for use by city residents. There are also a large number of smaller, local recycling sites situated across the city. Nottingham City Council also run a number of schemes which allow recycling/collection from home. Not all areas of the city have all of the following services:
• Recycling garden waste
• Recycling household waste
• Recycling paper
• Recycling glass
