Exchanging your home

As a secure tenant, you can exchange (or swap) your home. Introductory and demoted tenants cannot do this.

If you want to move home because your home no longer suits you, you could try exchanging your home with one or more people.

Who can do an exchange?

Any tenant of a local authority, arms' length management organisation (such as Nottingham City Homes) or a housing association can swap their home.

To do this you must apply to your local housing office for a form that you and all other parties to the exchange must fill in. If one or more parties are a housing association tenant, they will have to ask their housing association for an appropriate form.
