Nottingham has attracted European funding to become a Lighthouse City, along with cities in Spain and Turkey. It’s up to us to show how cities can become smarter and greener.
We're trialling super-efficient homes and new heating methods in Sneinton by developing the first Energiesprong homes in the UK. These homes are super-efficient, warm and comfortable, and use electricity generated in the home to heat and light it. Residents pay a flat charge for their power, which helps them budget. The whole thing is installed in less than two weeks, using panels which are installed with a crane, usually with residents at home.
This could transform the way we make homes more energy efficient, and it means that residents can be protected against rising energy prices. It also helps make sure that our homes are ready for the zero carbon standards required across the UK by 2050.
