Your rent and service charges
Nine out of ten tenants think their rent provides good value for money, and we work hard to keep your rent affordable.
More than two thirds of Nottingham tenants receive housing benefit or Universal Credit to help pay their rent – and this will rise to cover all or part of this year’s rent increase.
You are charged a rent for your home and charges for services that we provide to maintain the neighbourhood or block that you live in.
Your rent
The amount your rent can increase by each year is limited by the government. The increase is based on inflation, so that the costs of managing and maintaining your home can continue to be met.
This year, the rent for your home is increasing by 4.1% and the graphic below shows what the rent you pay goes towards.
Service charges
As well as the rent charged for your home, you will also make a contribution to the cost of other services provided. These are called service charges.
The amount of service charges you pay will depend on the type of home you live in. Most service charges are also increasing by 4.1%, but some have risen more because our costs are increasing – communal electricity or gas use, for example.
